Mr Albert Teo Chin Kion – Managing Director Borneo Eco Tours/Sukau Rainforest Lodge
A graduate in Economics (Honours) from the University of London in 1977, Albert Teo has been in the tourism industry for the last thirty two years.
Over the three decades, he has been a hotelier, tour operator, lodge and backpacker owner and operator, photographer, author, publisher, conference organizer, ecotourism consultant, speaker and lecturer. Albert is presently working on designing and building two new ecolodges in Sabah.
A keen photographer, he has trekked over 1,000km in Borneo and published over 150 postcards designs of Borneo, published ten books including the best selling Sabah -Land of the Sacred Mountain, Journey through Borneo, Saving Paradise-The Story of Sukau Rainforest Lodge and the latest book, A Souvenir of Sabah Malaysian Borneo.
His companies Borneo Eco Tours and Sukau Rainforest Lodge have won numerous international ecotourism awards. The success of Sukau Rainforest Lodge has encouraged him to share his experience of running the lodge in “Saving Paradise” which he co-authored with Carol Patterson in 2005 which documented the ten years of operation of the lodge.
Over the last ten years, Albert Teo has organized four highly successful international ecotourism conferences in Malaysia including World Ecotourism Conference and Field Seminars 1999, Asia Pacific Ecotourism Conference APeco2002, Borneo Ecotourism Conference BEC2005. He co-convened the Borneo Tourism Conference BTC2007 in Kuching with Professor Ross Dowling of Edith Cowan University, Australia in September 2007. Albert is presently focusing his energy on developing social entrepreneurship through his non-profit foundation, Borneo Ecotourism, Solutions and Technologies or BEST (www.bestsociety.org )
Albert has served in various positions in the tourism industry including Sabah Chapter Chairman of Malaysian Association of Tours and Travel Agents MATTA, Chairman of Sabah Tourist Association, Advisor of The International Ecotourism Society, USA, marketing committee of Sabah Tourism Board and member of Sabah Tourism Consultative Council. For the last five years, Albert was a member of the finalist selection committee for the Tourism for Tomorrow Awards of World Travel and Tourism Council WTTC.
In the last few years Albert travelled around the Asia Pacific countries as a keynote speaker on ecotour and ecolodge operations. In October 2006, Albert was appointed Adjunct Lecturer for three years by Edith Cowan University, Australia for his contribution to the ecotourism industry.

Baton Bijamin
– General Manager/Director Borneo Eco Tours/Sukau
Rainforest Lodge Mr. Baton Bijamin is perhaps the muscle behind the formation of Borneo Eco Tours in 1991, and subsequently the Sukau Rainforest Lodge in 1995. Naturally gifted with determination, a cool sense of vision, an immeasurable amount of hope and a knack for industrious management, Baton was instrumental in the setting-up both establishments alongside the owner of the company Mr. Albert Teo. Coming from a humble background, Baton rose from one success to another to bring Borneo Eco Tours to where it is today; one of the biggest and most successful inbound tour companies of its kind in Borneo with multiple international tourism awards. With a stronghold in Eco Tourism policies and green practices, Borneo Eco Tours will continuously grow under the skilled management of Baton.
Baton believes that “Success is a journey, not a destination” , which is a sure testament of continuous development, both personally and for the company.
Adrian Trevor Migiu (Borneo Eco Tours - Sandakan Branch Manager)
Adrian joined BET in April 1994 as a guide. After two years, he was transferred to Sukau as Lodge Supervisor and stayed there until 2000 when he was transferred back to Sandakan. Adrian was in-charged of the operation in Sandakan until 2002, when he was again transferred to Sukau but not too long because when he got engaged in December 2002, the management decided that he would be much better off in Sandakan so his future wife could also find a job there. So once again he was transferred to Sandakan in May 2003. He has been in Sandakan running the operation until now. All in all, he has been with the company for a total of 10 years. He loves to meet new people and talk about their countries. His motto is "Don't grow old but grow in maturity and wisdom."
Abdul Saat Wali – Assistant Lodge Manager
Saat takes the helm as Assistant Lodge Manager in 2007. With solid career background in hotel operation and nature guiding, Saat is eager to promote excellent service, memorable holiday experience and conservation at Sukau Rainforest Lodge. Always beaming with smiles, he enjoys meeting our guests from around the world who travel hundreds or thousands of kilometers to experience the excitement of wildlife encounter in the biodiversity-rich Sukau rainforest.
Asmudi Bin Bakri – Lodge Supervisor
A quiet and conscientious Lodge Supervisor with high dedication to his responsibilities at Sukau Rainforest Lodge. Groomed and trained in tourism industry, Asmudi's appreciation of outdoor activities and lure of nature led him to Sukau where he continues to contribute in tourism industry. Asmudi is committed to provide excellent customer service at Sukau Rainforest Lodge and always seek to improve himself as well as the operation of the lodge.
Winston Marshall – Nature Guide
"With his long experience of trekking, tracking and survival in the jungles of Malaysia, Winston is a useful addition to the staff at Sukau Rainforest Lodge. He is of Anglo-Burman descent and is a fully qualified, blue badge guide with Malaysian Citizenship. Winston describes himself as a “Jungleologist”, with special interests including driftwood sculptures, Botany, Ecology and Biology (plants and mammals).
Winston's has a very diverse working history prior to guiding. He started his working career as in a timber camp in Sarawak during the 1950's for 8 years, after which he joined the Sarawak Constabulary and rose to being an officer within 6 years. Winston was accepted as a platoon commander in a jungle combat unit, a post he held for 7 years. He then “Retired” and worked as a protocol officer in the British High Commission of Brunei for the next 17 years. After obtaining his Malaysian citizenship in 1988, he retired from the High Commission and started working as a tour guide in Sarawak in 1988, and joined Sukau Rainforest Lodge in 2004.

Hamit bin Suban
On top of his knowledge in nature, Hamit specializes in birds and frogs. Based in Sandakan, our tourist guide, Hamit is a friendly person you will come across. Since 2005, Hamit had guided numerous satisfied guests who had the luck of touring with him. Hamit also compiles list of birds in the areas he guides.
Hamit’s greatest experience was having the fortune to spot rare species of birds or frogs. “I had in my guiding, helped my guests to spot the rare Montane Scop Owl and Borneo Horned Frog. I was overjoyed when my guests were delighted to have such unusual encounter”, said Hamit.
Jumaidi bin Amil Hassan Backed by many years of experience in professional guiding, Jumaidi is an ideal guide for your wildlife, nature or birding tours. Jumaidi is best remembered as both a friendly guide and companion. Always beaming with smile, Jumaidi assures there is tonnes of information for you during his guiding. His motto is 'Never give up, just do the best'.
