KINABATANGAN WILDLIFE SAFARI

• On arrival at Sandakan Airport, transfer to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre for video show. Walk ten minutes through the rainforest on wooden plank walks to witness the feeding of the orang utans at 1000hrs.
• Continue to Sandakan jetty for 2½ hours boat journey to the multi awards winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge along Sabah's longest river, Kinabatangan with opportunity to view birds and wildlife in virgin mangrove, wetland and rainforest habitats. Late afternoon take a river cruise using electric motor in search of some of the 10 primate species. Sukau is home to Borneo pygmy elephants, orang utans, proboscis monkeys and all eight species of hornbill in Borneo.
• Return for solar heated hot shower, candle light dinner overlooking the riverbank and slide show conducted by naturalist guide. Overnight at the award winning newly renovated Sukau Rainforest Lodge, named by National Geographic Adventure magazine in 2009 as one of the top 50 jungle lodges in the world.

• Wake up to the calls of gibbons and hornbills.
• A 0600hrs morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view more birds and wildlife.
• After breakfast, proceed for an educational tour on the Hornbill Boardwalk located behind the lodge with our in-house naturalist. You have the option to visit our 65 acres Kinabatangan Wildlife Corridor Regeneration Program (KWICORP) site to learn about reforestation of degraded riverine reserve.
• In the afternoon, we proceed for another river cruise for more wildlife.

TIPS: Try the lodge's rejuvenating Foot Spa Treatment (with a service fee)

• After breakfast, return to Sandakan by boat journey.
• Have lunch before we proceed to Rainforest Discovery Centre. Explore the botanical garden, home to various species of flora and take a bird view of the centre from the canopy walk and hanging bridge.
• Transfer to airport for the late afternoon flight back to Kota Kinabalu.
