Day 1 – Kota Kinabalu – Night Market
Arrive in Kota Kinabalu and transfer to your hotel. We will pick you up in the evening for a city tour. Catch the sunset at Signal Hill overlooking the city centre and the offshore islands. Then, visit the night market to check out the wide array of local spices, souvenirs, fruits and vegetables. Proceed to a restaurant for dinner before we return to your hotel.
Afterwards, head to the Sun Bear Conservation Centre, the only one in the world, located just next door to learn more about the world’s smallest bears.
After lunch, embark on a 2-and-a-half-hour journey by speedboat up the Kinabatangan River to Sukau Rainforest Lodge.
Right after checking-in, we’ll go on board for an evening cruise in search of Borneo’s wildlife and birds. Return to the lodge to savour a scrumptious dinner at Melapi restaurant, followed by a slide presentation and interpretation by a naturalist guide. Overnight at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge.

Day 2 – Gaya Island
Immerse yourself in a nature trek in Gaya Island, located 30-minutes by speedboat from Kota Kinabalu. Trek to one of the trail and learn about the unique medicinal plants, tropical hardwood trees and tropical Dipterocarp rainforest. After the trek, a boat will transfer you to another island where you will enjoy your lunch (picnic box) by the beach before venturing for a swim or simply laze away. A great way to dispel the jet lag as you’ll almost certainly be well relaxed and rested after this.

Day 3 – Kota Kinabalu – Kinabalu Park – Kota Kinabalu
Journey 2 hours overland to the foothills of mighty Mt. Kinabalu at 1500m and take a quick stop at Pekan Nabalu market to savour local fruits in season. Visit the Education Centre and Mountain Garden in Kinabalu Park Headquarters. If weather permits, take a guided walk on one of the trails in the cool surrounding to explore the montane forest. Return to Kota Kinabalu and stay overnight in hotel.

Day 4 – Kota Kinabalu – Sandakan – Selingan Island
Transfer to Kota Kinabalu airport for morning flight (40 minutes) to Sandakan and arrive before 0800 hours. On arrival, transfer to jetty for 1-hour boat ride to Selingan Island. Enjoy leisure to explore island, swim and snorkel. After dinner, wait for signal from the Park Ranger before proceeding to watch Green Turtle lay eggs on the beach, transplanting of eggs to hatchery and release of baby turtles to the sea. Stay overnight in Twin-Share room.

Day 5 – Selingan Island – Sepilok – Sukau Rainforest Lodge
Return to Sandakan and head to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. There, you’ll get to learn about the rehabilitation effort done at the centre through a short video screening. Then make your way to the feeding platform to witness the feeding of orangutans scheduled daily at 10AM. You can also spend time observing the cheeky little younglings in an enclosed nursery area.
After lunch, embark on a 2-and-a-half-hour journey to the award winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge, nestled on the banks of Sabah’s longest river, Kinabatangan. Right after checking-in, we’ll go on board for an evening cruise in search of Borneo’s wildlife and birds. Return to the lodge to savour a candlelight dinner at Melapi restaurant, followed by a slide presentation and interpretation by a naturalist guide. Overnight at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge.

Day 6 – Sukau Rainforest Lodge
Rise and shine for the morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view more birds and wildlife. After breakfast, join in the nature walk along the lodge’s Hornbill Boardwalk with the in-house naturalist. After lunch, it will be free at leisure. In the afternoon, proceed for another river cruise for more wildlife. Overnight at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge.

Day 7 – Sukau Rainforest Lodge – Sandakan – Transfer out (by boat)
Have breakfast before returning to Sandakan by boat. After lunch, proceed to airport for the 1430hrs flight to Kota Kinabalu. If you’re taking the evening flight, you’ll have a chance to visit Rainforest Discovery Centre. Take a bird view of the centre from the canopy walk and hanging bridge, explore the botanical garden, home to various species of flora. Proceed to Sandakan Memorial Park for a short visit before taking the flight.

- Camera Fee at SOURC
- Note on Camera Use at Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre: For any camera with zoom lens from 100 to 400mm, video camera or other video recording equipment for personal use are chargeable at RM10.00 per unit. For any camera (fixed-lens – 400mm and above ) or any film-making equipment are chargeable at RM1,000.00 per unit. Mode of payment is cash only.
- Travel light to Sukau Rainforest Lodge
- For the comfort and convenience of our guests, it is recommended to travel light by preparing an overnight bag for your stay in Sukau Rainforest Lodge. Complimentary storage in Sandakan will be provided for any extra luggage. (For guests departing & returning to Sandakan Only).
- Night Cruise
- Optional River Night Cruise tour at Sukau Rainforest Lodge is highly recommended to all our guests (available with a small fee)

- Borneo Eco Tours is moving towards a single-use plastic free environment! So, please join our movement by bringing your own refillable water bottle during your time with us. Our vans and coaches are prepared with water containers so that you can refill your bottle anytime throughout the tour.

- Travel Insurance
- Customers are encouraged to purchase their own travel insurance before travelling to Borneo. We recommend you to select a travel insurance policy that covers not only your medical expenses (including emergency repatriation) but also personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage. Doing so can prevent major disruptions and additional costs.
