The newly appointed Minister of Culture, Environment and Tourism, YB Datuk Wilfred Bumburing made a one day visit to Sukau Rainforest Lodge on 17th August 1998. During his visit Datuk Wilfred also officiated at the presentation of the sixteen water tanks to sixteen families in Sukau village. The funds for the purchase of the water tanks were raised through donation from individuals and companies organised by Borneo Eco Tours. Refer to projects for more detail.

His Excellency the ambassador of Denmark to Malaysia, Mr. Leif Holger Reimann and his wife Mrs Bente Karen Birgitte Reimann accompanied by Mr. & Mrs. Kofod, advisor to Sabah Biodiversity Conservation Project and Danish Co-operation for Environment and Development, taking a river cruise during their overnight stay at Sukau Rainforest Lodge on 27th March 1998.
