Alvin Ung

Alvin Ung is an author, coach, leadership consultant and student of purpose-led leaders and teams around Asia. As a consultant, he has contributed to defining the true purpose for the leaders he has worked with in impacting their teams and organisations. At Khazanah Nasional, Alvin led a team of 20 CEOs and HR Heads to build a talent management program. He has also been named as Fellow twice at Khazanah Nasional where he studies leadership in Asia. Co-founder of Leadernomics, an award-winning social enterprise focusing on leadership development, Alvin was also a mentor at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year Award program in Monte Carlo.

He is known for his books Taking Your Soul to Work, Barefoot Leadership and his latest work, Together: Finding Purpose at the Intersection of Me+We, where he travels to 10 Asian countries, learning about over 100 leaders and how they join the purpose of power together. His work has been published by the Associate Press, CNN and BBC.

Alvin serves on the boards of Bakke Graduate University and Handshakes, a data analytics company. He obtained an M.A. in non-fiction writing at The Johns Hopkins University, and an M.C.S. from Regent. He has taught courses on leadership, spirituality, and creative writing at universities in North America and seminaries in Southeast Asia.

Alvin has also coached and given inspirational and motivational talks to the staff of Borneo Eco Tours and Sukau Rainforest Lodge. For his contribution to the growth and development of our team members, we have dedicated a Villa in Alvin Ung’s name here at the lodge.
