Just last week, Sukau Rainforest Lodge had the wonderful pleasure of hosting our very own Conservation Fellow Dato' Dr. Mikaail Kavanagh and his wife Datin Wati Kavanagh here.

Dato' Mikaail and Datin Wati Kavanagh together with the lodge team.

Dato' Mikaail is an inspirational individual when it comes to advocating for conservation, which is why he's recognized as a Conservation Fellow here at SRL. He has contributed so much to safeguarding Borneo's biodiversity through the inception of the Heart of Borneo initiative.

You can read more about Dato' Mikaail Kavanagh as our Conservation Fellow here.

For his significant conservation efforts, Sukau Rainforest Lodge has dedicated a Villa room in his name, and he officiated the Villa room upon his arrival at the lodge.

During his second night's stay with us, Dato' Mikaail was kind enough to enlighten us and our in- house guests about the Heart of Borneo initiative, which he helped to establish when he was the CEO of World Wildlife Fund Malaysia.

It was truly wonderful to have both Dato' Mikaail and Datin Wati with us and really hope that they had an amazing stay here.

We're grateful for another year and 2017 was by far, one of the best year for us. And we're ecstatic to find out what's in store for us this year.

Here are just some updates from last year:

We have gone through some major renovation works and upgrading since 2016 and finally, we now have the Borneo Villas as a luxurious accommodation option for guests. The villas have an exquisite Bornean touch and ambiance to them, from its fine architecture design, down to the smallest wood carving details. Equipped with air-conditioning, the villas are also 60% larger than our existing superior rooms, making it an ideal accommodation for parents with littles ones.

Guests have the option of a king-sized bed or twin-sharing. On top of that, each villa also has its own private balcony for guests to step out to and enjoy the fresh-air and nature scenes. Our Borneo Villas are now open for booking, and guests can now enjoy luxury and the wilderness hand-in-hand during their stay here.

Besides that, guests can take a stroll at the newly built David Attenborough Boardwalk while listening to nature’s soothing orchestra. There are also chances of spotting wildlife in the surrounding forests, including orangutans! Do keep a lookout for our resident orangutans Lucky and Day who comes by to say hello once in a while.

Sukau Rainforest Lodge has also extended its Melapi Restaurant/Jetty to provide guests with a more spacious and comfortable dining experience. At Melapi Restaurant/Jetty, guests can savour the beautiful scenery of Kinabatangan River while they're having their meal or enjoying a cold beer.

If you want to experience Sabah Borneo at its grandest and make unforgettable memories, come stay with us at Sukau Rainforest Lodge!
